Digital Solutions requires students to retrieve data and programmatically transform it. A possible solution is to use PHP and MySQL for IA2 and PHP and JSON (via a live or simulated API) for IA3. This one day workshop will focus on coding techniques to produce a dynamic web page that connects to a database (populated from a CSV file) and displays selected data for IA2, and a page that connects to a similar dataset in JSON format (with a live API). These could form components of a solution for IA2 and IA3 respectively. The workshop will use an existing webserver that runs PHP and MySQL so no local installations will be necessary. Some knowledge of HTML and CSS will be beneficial, and basic SQL knowledge is assumed, but no prior knowledge of PHP is required.
This workshop is organised by QSITE Toowoomba but being hosted in Ipswich so that participants from Toowoomba to Brisbane can meet in a common location.
The day is funded by a grant from Google, so there is no cost to you.
Morning tea, lunch and beverages are provided.
Please bring a laptop to work on as this is a practical coding workshop.
Registrations are now open.

I’m away for the next week with no comms (bobbing around in the middle of the South Pacific hoping to not get sick) so any questions won’t be answered until after the 15th.
